Who We Are

Safe Farms WA realise that the safety, health and wellbeing of all of the people who live on, visit and work on farms is the most important responsibility that can be shared by everyone. Ensuring that all employers, employees, contractors and visitors all understand this is vitally important. The board and team at Safe Farms WA are all passionate about the safety, health and wellbeing of everyone in the farming industry.

Members of the farming industry realise that they need to focus their attention on improving and implementing farm safety systems. Farms are very unique enterprises.  From large corporate enterprises to family farms and small owner operated businesses, from grain, sheep and beef operations to dairy, horticulture and pastoral, working the land has been often thought of as lifestyle rather than as a professional business.

Safe Farms WA aims to support the farming sector, and is collaboratively forming strong partnerships and alliances to ensure and support continuous improvement and education in safety awareness and practices, which will improve farm business performance, efficiency and industry productivity.

Supporting the farmers of tomorrow

Safe Farms WA understands the importance of the next generation of farmers and works with a variety of education providers such as the Ag Colleges, TAFE’s and universities offering information, education and support to the farming industry across Western Australia.

Safe Farms WA provides two scholarships annually to the WACOE Ag College students for (1) Attention to Detail in Health Safety and Wellbeing and for (2) Attention to Detail in Handling Chemicals Safely.

Industry and government collaboration

Safe Farms WA organises events and works with industry, local and community groups and government agencies to bring important information and solutions about safety, health and wellbeing to Western Australia. We run up to 25 workshops annually - either face to face or virtually. We work with Grower Groups, Farm Consultants and Community Resource Centres and more, to get the message and the support out to those who need it and will benefit the most.

Leadership in Safety

Safe Farms WA is a member of Farmsafe Australia, the national body linking all states now operating out of the National Farmers Federation office in Canberra.  We also represent WA nationally on the board of AusChem Training, the national body for chemical safety training.

The pricing has been capped for 2022 to enable farmers and agriculture industry service providers to access and implement safety systems in their business.
